IMIS is a Gladstone-based inspection company operating nationally across mining, energy, ports and heavy manufacturing. We provide accredited NDT, statutory pressure equipment inspection and IRATA-certified rope access.
Our technicians are qualified to AINDT, PCN and ANST standards. Inspectors hold AICIP and API accreditation.
All testing is conducted under our NATA-accredited laboratory scope, certified to ISO 17025.
We work across the full inspection lifecycle - from routine compliance testing to multi-discipline shutdown programs.
Industrial Inspection and NDT Services for Heavy Industry.
Non-Destructive Testing allows accurate assessment of your assets without interrupting operations or causing damage — identifying defects, measuring integrity and ensuring compliance before issues become failures.
NDT Solutions and Services
Magnetic Particle Testing (MPI)

Detects surface and near-surface flaws in ferromagnetic materials. Suitable for welds, castings and forgings.

Phased Array Ultrasonics (PAUT)
Uses multiple ultrasonic elements to generate detailed cross-sectional images of welds and components. Ideal where conventional UT is insufficient.

Radiography (RT)
Uses X-ray or gamma radiation to image internal component structure. Detects porosity, inclusions and lack of fusion in welds and castings.
Dye Penetrant Testing (DPI)

Reveals surface-breaking defects in non-porous materials using penetrant dye and developer. Applicable across metals, ceramics and plastics.

Eddy Current Testing (ECT)
Detects surface and near-surface discontinuities in conductive materials. No coating removal required.

Hardness Testing (HT)
Measures material hardness to assess strength and suitability for service. Used for weld qualification, material verification and in-service assessment.

Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Detects internal flaws and measures wall thickness across metals and composites. Suitable for a wide range of components and material types.

Visual Examination (VT)
Systematic visual assessment of components, welds and surfaces. Identifies discontinuities, corrosion and workmanship defects. Conducted to AS and ISO standards.

Wire Rope Testing (WRT)
Assesses wire ropes used in cranes, hoists and conveyors. Detects internal wire breaks, corrosion and loss of metallic area.

Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD)
Precisely sizes and locates flaws by measuring diffracted ultrasonic signals. Commonly paired with PAUT for critical weld inspections

Alternating Current Field Measurement (ACFM)
Detects and sizes surface-breaking cracks in conductive materials. No coating removal required.

Fitness for Service Assessment (FFS)
Engineering assessment to API 579 / AS 3992. Determines whether an asset with a known defect is safe to remain in service and under what conditions.
